Fees for School Visits

My fees are negotiable, depending on how many schools I visit in the area, and whether I am allowed to sell books.   For the schools that are within driving distance so that I don’t have the expense of a motel, my normal fee is $200.  My normal fee for schools outside my area is $300 a day, which I’m sure you know is very reasonable for an author visit.  I am mostly interested in getting my books known, but I need to cover my expenses.

For each additional school I get in the area during a week, except for my area, I reduce the cost by $25 for each school, because that cuts down on my driving.  For example, one school would be $300, but if I visit two schools in the area, it would be $275 each, and for 3 schools, $250, etc.  They must be on consecutive days, but I am willing to stay in your area for as long as you need me.  For each school that allows me to sell books, I reduce their fee by another $25.  If the school can schedule me for a “Family Night” visit, or book fair during that week, I reduce it by another $25.  My minimum fee for schools out of my area is $150 a day.  I am willing to do up to six presentations a day.  The size of the group doesn’t matter, but I do ask that they be kept within two grade levels so I can tailor my presentation for that age.  I need at least 40 minutes with each group.  I will design flyers for each school for the students to take home that tell a little about the books, the cost of the books ($9 ea.) and the date I will visit the school.  I will be glad to print and mail them to the school, or I can email a copy to the librarian.  I am very flexible and easy to work with, because it’s a job I love!  As usual, I always donate a copy of each book to every school I visit.

Ask me about more ways to cut the cost of my visit!
